Hang Your Holiday Lights Now to Avoid the Rush!

The busy holiday season is just around the corner. Before you know it, Savannah will be awash in beautiful lights. Instead of waiting until early December to hang your holiday lights, why not get a jump on the season and hang them up now? You can still wait to turn them on until Thanksgiving night but you will be prepared and ready to go for the holiday season well in advance.

Why Rush?

Early Christmas preparation and hanging your outdoor lights early has many benefits for you to consider:

  • Avoid the Holiday Rush—With shopping and baking, school programs, Christmas pageants and holiday parties, December can be a very busy month. Spending the time now to hang your holiday lights will enable you to check one more thing off your task list during the busier days of the season. Once Thanksgiving is over, you can simply flip a switch to start getting into the Christmas spirit.
  • Preparing Ahead of Time—Installing your holiday lights takes time and can be a sizable job. Putting them up in advance gives you time to make sure the lights are properly installed and in safe working order for when you need them.
  • Better Weather—Waiting until early December to install your holiday lights means increasing the risk of having to work during inclement weather. Even though our Savannah winters are mild, you can avoid the likelihood of having to be outside or up on a ladder in bad weather by installing the exterior lights early.

Safety First!

One of the most important things to remember when hanging exterior holiday lights is proper ladder safety. If you hang lights around your roof line, make sure you are using the right equipment, including properly rated ladders, extensions, and braces, to reach the highest parts of your house. Refrain from climbing atop the shingle roofing and tall peaks of your home until someone is available to steady the ladder. Check the wires and cords and toss any that are damaged. Christmas just isn’t the same when you have to deal with electrical disasters.

Check the Roof!

Your holiday light installation provides the perfect opportunity to check the overall condition of your home’s exterior.  Take special care to examine whether your shingle roofing is in need of repairs. Tri County Roofing & Siding is available to help with any roof problems you may be facing. Taking good care of your shingle roofing is an important part of preventive home maintenance in the Savannah area.

As both GAF Master Elite and CertainTeed ShingleMaster contractors, we are highly qualified to handle all your roofing needs. Contact Tri County Roofing & Siding today to schedule a roof inspection and complete any repairs before winter arrives.
