Prepare Your Home for Football Season

Football season has arrived in our midst at last.  With it comes an important reminder: don’t waste your leisure hours on roof repair!  You have more important things on your mind – like what you’re going to make for the next tailgating party or how your fantasy football team is performing. Instead of spending your hard earned Saturdays taking care of home improvement tasks, leave the job to Tri County Roofing & Siding. We’ll take care of your gutter and roof repair projects so that you can spend more time cheering on your favorite team.

Gutter cleaning

It’s a good idea to get your gutters and downspouts cleaned out a couple times each year. Keeping the gutters cleared allows rain to drain properly so that the gutters don’t overflow, resulting in structural damage to the foundation of the home. Water heavy gutters can also damage the roof’s fascia boards.

A thorough gutter cleaning begins by removing leaves, sticks, seeds, needles, and other debris out of the gutters with a gloved hand or garden trowel. Then, clean the debris that forms when the asphalt roofing shingle granules mix with dirt and water. Using a garden hose, all residual matter and any debris left in the downspouts can be flooded out. Any pools of water that form after the cleaning indicate low spots. Gutters should be adjusted as needed.

Care and proper equipment is required to ensure the safety of whomever is cleaning the gutters.

Roof inspection

Typically roof damage forms before anyone at ground level will notice it. The following signs of wear indicate that a roof may need to be replaced in the near future:

  • Curling, buckling, or blistering shingles
  • Loose material or wear around pipes, chimneys, and other openings
  • Large quantities of shingle granules in the gutters

After the team at Tri County Roofing inspects for these signs of wear, we check the area around the chimneys and pipes. Sometimes, indications of water damage can be found by looking at the interior walls and ceilings.

Insulation

Home insulation is needed to make sure that your home is protected for the winter months ahead. There are many great new energy efficient products on the market that you may want to install during autumn.
