It’s a good idea to get your gutters and downspouts cleaned out a couple times each year. Keeping the gutters cleared allows rain to drain properly so that the gutters don’t overflow, resulting in structural damage to the foundation of the home. A thorough gutter cleaning begins by removing leaves, sticks, seeds, needles, and other debris out of the gutters with a gloved hand or garden trowel. Then, clean the debris that forms when the asphalt roofing shingle granules mix with dirt and water. Using a garden hose, all residual matter and any debris left in the downspouts can be flooded out. Any pools of water that form after the cleaning indicate low spots. Gutters should be adjusted as needed.

Roof inspection
