Homeowner Quick Facts: The Popular GAF Timberline Shingles

GAF Timberline shingles are one of the most popular architectural shingles in North America. Here are a few reasons why:

A “Green” Option

GAF Timberline shingles receive their Energy Star rating from a special manufacturing process that enables them to reflect the sun’s rays better than other shingle types.  This helps to keep attic areas cooler, reducing your energy usage.

Developments in fiberglass mat technology have also enabled GAF to produce shingles that contain less asphalt and limestone – making them more environmentally friendly.

Research

GAF is continually researching innovative ways to produce high-quality roofing products. The Timberline boasts of Advanced Protection shingle technology. The shingles have undergone stringent testing in laboratory conditions for toughness, resistance to wind uplift, flexibility and granule adhesion. Additionally, GAF Timberline shingles carry a Class A fire rating from Underwriter Laboratories (UL).

Variety

There are at least four styles of Timberline shingles available, including:

  • Timberline Natural Shadow
  • Timberline American Harvest
  • Timberline HD
  • Timberline Ultra HD

Each of these come in a large variety of colors, allowing a homeowner to choose the one that best suits the style and color scheme of his or her home.

The Cool Series

Timberline also offers specialty shingles in the Cool Series. These shingles are ideal for our hot, humid Myrtle Beach summers because they help to keep homes cooler.  With this special series, energy consumption is reduced.

The Wind Resistant Shingles

The Timberline ArmorShield II series shingles are rated Class IV impact-resistant , making them more than capable of standing up to the tropical storms we experience in this area.

Accessories

Timberline shingles are installed with accessories such as:

  • Timbertex Premium Ridge Cap shingles
  • DuraGrip Adhesive Seals that can withstand winds of up to 110 miles per hour (130 mph with extra nails)

Warranty

GAF Timberline shingles are available with the Lifetime Ltd. Warranty. The GAF Golden Pledge system warranty includes a 50 year material defect coverage and a 25 year workmanship coverage.

The warranty is valid for a single family detached residence belonging to the original owner or a second owner once the warranty has been correctly transferred. Tri County Roofing, as a Master Elite contractor, is eligible to offer this GAF warranty.
