Is Your Home the Envy of the Block?

Is your curb appeal up to par, or does your home make a less-than-impressive first impression? At Tri County Roofing, we love making Charleston neighborhoods more beautiful with our shingle roofing services, but we know there are other important details to consider too. From your yard and pavement to your house itself, the following factors are mandatory if you want to take pride in your house.

Driveway

Over time, your driveway gets more wear and tear than almost any other item on this list, but it also makes up a big portion of your front yard area. It’s always noticeable when a driveway needs attention: watch out for oil stains and cracks, and consider decorative edging to separate your driveway from the lawn and make it easier to maintain the grass on either side.

Sidewalk

Any pathways connecting the driveway to your front door should be clear and defined, but aesthetically pleasing.  matches the finish and age of the driveway; inconsistencies will make small issues much more obvious. Install lighting or landscaping accents along the way, visually leading the eye toward your front door. Tree roots may push up against your pavement from below, causing long-term structural damage.

Landscaping

Bright, beautiful flowers are a cost-effective way to tastefully accent a color palate of neutral siding and plain pavement. However, the greenery is even more important. Keep your trees, bushes and grass hydrated and trimmed.

Siding

Weather and old age can discolor and damage your home’s outer layer. Opt for vinyl siding to avoid costly repainting services, and wash it regularly so that dirt and bacteria can’t build up and bring down the visual impact.

Windows & Door

New front doors offer a significant return on investment for homeowners, because they’re such a focal point for visitors and neighbors. However, if your front-facing windows are outdated or dirty, a new door will only accentuate that fact. Make sure your window sills and frames are clean and sealed, and inspect your glass surfaces for chips or cracks. Trim bushes and trees so they don’t lean against windows; this can obstruct views, damage windows and even invite insects inside.

Roof

Is it time to repair or replace your roof? Missing shingles, hail damage, debris and discoloration can bring down the value and appeal of an otherwise well-maintained home.
