Considering Different Siding Options for Your Home?

Choosing the right siding for your Goose Creek home is a great way to protect your investment. Siding helps to enhance the home, both in terms of appearance and also as a means of making it easier to heat and cool the interior. With several siding options on the market today, homeowners are sometimes confused about which approach to use. Here are examples of the more popular options and why they are worth considering.

Vinyl Siding

When many people think of vinyl siding, they immediate have questions about the durability of the product. When it comes to the vinyl used for home exteriors, it is important to remember that this is a little different from the vinyl used for upholstery or inexpensive covers for the backyard grill. Only the highest grade is used for the creation of siding panels.

Choosing to go with vinyl siding means that you can forget about having to repaint the outside of your home every few years. The pigmentation is all through the material, and the surface of each panel is coated with a protecting agent. This helps to minimize fading and scratching as the years go by. In fact, all you have to do to keep the siding looking great is to wash it down with the water hose now and then.

Aluminum Siding

Aluminum siding is another popular option on the market today. Aluminum also provides excellent coverage and will hold its appearance for a number of years. The protective coating on the aluminum helps to minimize the potential for rust and other issues that can weaken metal over the years. Since the siding is installed in panels, it is also relatively easy to remove a damaged panel and insert a new one, without having to redo the entire wall.

Vertical Board and Batten Siding

More traditional options for siding tend to involve the installation of horizontal panels. With board and batten siding, the direction is vertical instead. Siding of this type is usually composed of wood or possibly some type of fiber cement. In both cases, the material is treated and sealed, making it very easy to maintain.
